There are just 8 days left to go before Her Royal Highness, Princess Irene of The Netherlands (patron of the Biodiversity Coalition 2010) unveils the first of the 100 life-size images of the Wild Wonders of Europe Outdoor Exhibition in the Hague. After 3 years of intense work it is very exciting to finally be counting down the hours. As we speak, the huge stands are being constructed beneath the beautiful avenue of trees called the Lange Vijverberg.
It is fitting that the Exhibition opens during the week that celebrates the International Day of Biodiversity – May 22nd, during the crucially important International Year of Biodiversity.
The Official ceremony (by invitation only) will be attended by a host of leading dignitaries including The Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, The Mayor of The Hague and the Director of Staatsbosbeheer who all made this possible. Together with 9 European Ambassadors; The EU Commission and European Parliamentarians, leading influential decision makers in the world of conservation from the Directors of WWF Netherlands and Belgium, to National Geographic Editors in Chief, The Wild Europe Initiative, iLCP and of course, all of us!
Sixteen of the project’s photographers will come together for the very first time: The UK – Peter Cairns & Pete Oxford; Sweden – Staffan Widstrand, Magnus Elander, Magnus Lundgren, Anders Geidemark; Norway – Ole-Jørgen Liodden & Tom Schandy ; Hungary – Milán Radisics; Germany – Florian Möllers & Frank Krahmer; Italy – Maurizio Biancarelli & Elio della Ferrera; The Netherlands – Edwin Giesbers & Ruben Smit; and Portugal – Nuno Sá.
The Exhibition remains in place from 27 May – 30 August. It is free and open-air.
